Gotta respectfully disagree with the title of this chart. Music evolves and changes with each generation’s exposure to new music, new cultures, etc. has nothing at all to do with “African American”, which is a term that gets used often but has no real meaning. This should be simply an “evolution of music” chart, not an “African American” chart.
If you interviewed “African American” music makers you would see that there are influences from what you would call “non-African American” musicians. So what you’re perpetuating doesn’t make sense. Music is art, art evolves yes, but you can’t accurately label art how you are trying to.
God bless you and have a wonderful day 🙏
I wonder what Dr. Maltby thinks of the new music created overwhelmingly by POC and how vile the lyrics are with respect to women, crimes, and drugs etc. ?
