I need this guide to have sooo many more comparisons.
I am just as much chicken as I am banana
This chart has me me fucked up seven different ways.
How the fuck are we closer to arthropods (flies) than chickens. That makes no sense. Makes even less sense that a chicken, a terrestrial vertebrate like us, is as far away from us as a fucking fruit
How is a human only 99.9% human?
Are we human? 🤔
What about a potato I need answers
35% similar to a daffodil. I know a few people with higher numbers though
Just goes to show everything and I mean EVERYTHING on this planet is related. You are literally related to trees, to bugs, to blades of grass.
Everything stemmed from a common ancestor, and I don’t even mean single celled organisms. Some proto rat is the big daddy of you and all the other mammals.
PBS Eons is a great YouTube channel that talks about ages of life and history on Earth that doesn’t get covered a lot.
I am not a cat. Well mostly I am a cat.
‘Are we not men now?’ ‘Actually I’m 40% potato, but close enough’
I’m more similar to a fly than a chicken!
If you’re interested.
Here is more on [Human DNA and plants](https://www.saps.org.uk/saps-associates/browse-q-and-a/473-how-much-dna-do-plants-share-with-humans-over-99).
Here is more on [how Human DNA is manipulated by Viruses, bacteria, other microorganisms](https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2015/03/humans-may-harbor-more-100-genes-other-organisms) which allows us to make connections as to WHY different mammals that can harbor the same microorganisms would have the same genetic material/alterations.
Here is more on [Human DNA and Bananas](https://lab.dessimoz.org/blog/2020/12/08/human-banana-orthologs) and their links to aminos, proteins, metabolic processes, and conflicts in methods of evaluation for DNA % which range from 17%-50% depending on the methods used to evaluate their likeness.
Here is more on [tardigrades / Water Bears DNA research](https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/water-bears-tardigrades-master-dna-thieves-animal-world-180957371/) that briefly mentions how when “-tardigrades desiccate [dry out], their genomes fragment” and when “- liquid restores them, the membranes surrounding their cells remain leaky for a while, and as the cells quickly work to repair their own genomes, they may accidentally work in some DNA from the environment-“ suggesting they integrate with their surroundings.
If your curious [Britannica provides a definition and discussion on what a Genetic Modified Organism (GMO)](https://www.britannica.com/science/genetically-modified-organism), which states an “-organism whose genome has been engineered in the laboratory in order to favour the expression of desired physiological traits or the generation of desired biological products.” Including a brief history on GMOs in medicine and research something from the 1980s.
I know people who are 100% like a fruit flies, annoying mf’s you wanna smack to death.
At least one of these numbers is wrong.
[“Humans and chimps share a surprising 98.8 percent of their DNA.”](https://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/permanent/human-origins/understanding-our-past/dna-comparing-humans-and-chimps)
I thought we were very close to pigs – hence the studies of their organs in transplants.
I think this is interesting but would be great to have more comparisons
So you tell me cat girls are possible?
I want to see a pig in this chart.
I’ve long wondered if humans could be pig-monkey hybrids.
There was an episode of Star Talk about this. When they got to the banana part the percentage was 60-62%. The co-host asked “Wait… does that mean some people are 2% more banana than other people?” It was one of those times on that show where they get to laughing so hard they can’t speak. (The other one I remember is traversing a wormhole)
If you are white standing next to another white person or a black person you could have more common dna with the black person than the white person.
Can confirm false
maybe i’m monke
Im 61% banana
Are we human?
Or are we dancers?
I am german im 100% potato
How is our DNA equally similar to bananas and chickens?
Presumably there is some DNA shared by humans and chickens but not bananas. So there must be some other DNA shared by humans and bananas, but not chickens…
Maybe iam a fruit fly.
I wonder what we’re the most genetically different from?
Does that mean eaintg a cow makes us cannibals since they are 80% human? 🤔
What’s going on with the first. What is the 0.01%?
So when I eat a chicken I am practicing cannibalism at 60%?
Damn. I feel much closer to cats than a mere 90%.
I wanna know what the chicken to banana ratio is
Someone with a brain needs to save us here and call out all the bullshit in this pic.
These numbers seem wildly inconsistent with others.
Is that why they experiment on cats and dogs?
Ahh yes banana
“Are you a man, or a mouse?!”
“Well actually I’m about 85% mouse and that’s pretty impressive.”
is it possible to have zero% relation with something living on this heart?
I always knew I was part cat
What is this ordered by please explain it isn’t size alphabet or similarity help
60 and 61% with the banana and fruit fly makes total sense as the fly’s come from bananas.
I’m genuinely surprised that there’s more similarity to an invertebrate fruit fly than there is to a vertebrate chicken.
Suddenly a gang of chimpanzees attack and steal 60% of my body.
Thanks for telling me I’ve almost similar dna to another human being.
We’re not even 100% our own species…..
60%?! That’s bananas!
I’m not sure that 60% of genomic similarity to a banana is properly weighted
The thing I’ve always wondered is the 60% we share with chickens and the 60% we share with a banana, I’m assuming that’s the same 60% yeah?
I’m calling bullshit on humans sharing 60% of their DNA with banana (trees?). Either they’re measuring DNA similarity in a really weird way, or the sources on this aren’t very good.
Like Doctor House said to Dr Foreman:
House: check her heart
Foreman: Oxygen saturation is normal
House: It’s off by one percentage point
Foreman: Within range, it’s normal
House: If her DNA was off by one percent she’d be a dolphin.
This is one of the best arguments you can use with someone who doesn’t believe in Evolution. Did God keep re-using the same genes in EVERYTHING because He was bored, or because He only had 6 days and had to hurry?
This data is a little old/off, in that I know the Chimp % is quite a bit higher than this, though.
>At the Chinese restaurant.
[orders protein representing 80% cannibalism]
[unknowingly receives protein representing 90% cannibalism]
Mmm, Beijing Beef…
Banana is my favorite species
Sadly the guide doesent show the Pig my Biology Teacher once told me that we have many Dna similarities with the Pig . Thats why Researchers use often Pigs for Human Research
The 0.1 of 99.9 human DNA similarities are probably the dentists who didn’t recommend the toothpaste
Tells me that what’s in that 4, 5, or 10% is pretty damn important.
Apes strong together 🦍
Wait, chickens are as far from us as a banana? That’s feels wrong, the chicken is an animal and a mammal at that. And while mice and cows are at 85% and 80% ?
Edit: I don’t know where i got that chickens are mammals from.
